About Us
We are a group of 7th graders in Los Angeles who love our California Sea Lions. Our project theme for CBL (Challenge Based Learning) is movement. Sea lions are amazing sea creatures and highly unpopular. However, they pass away from nets lying around on the ocean floor. We are heart broken about the fact that each of our beloved animals pass away from fishermen who dump their nets in the ocean. In response to that, we made a box case for our speaker mechanism to scare the sea lions away from the ghost nets. Sea Lions can't see the nets that well as we can so it is easy for them to get caught. The speakers mimics the sound of a killer whale, a sea lion's natural predator to scare them away from the fishing nets. Hopefully, our efforts will make a big enough impact on the community to raise awareness about the sea lions and other marine life getting caught in ghost nets.
